Maggie Gill is the current Chief Executive Officer and President of Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. It is a six hundred plus academic medical institute that is serving more than thirty counties of South Carolina and Georgia. Maggie Gill joined the medical center in 2004 as Vice President Finance and Managed Care. In 2005, she was promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Later in 2011, Maggie Gill was made Chief Executive Officer and President of MUMC (Memorial Health Medical Center).
Maggie Gill has a huge responsibility at MUMC. She is responsible for providing leadership to physician leaders, senior vice presidents, and vice presidents. Her direct responsibilities include government relations, facilities management, physician relations, Heart & Vascular Institute, trauma services, financial assistance, Memorial Health University Physicians, corporate communications, perioperative services and neuroscience and orthopedic programs. As Chief Operating Officer, she led initiatives like the construction of facilities, an increase of clinical services and physician led Excellence Centers. Her initiative yielded a financial turnaround of $30 Million in 2006.
Just like her career, Gill’s education was also outstanding. She went to Florida State University in 1982 to study Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature. In 1996, she went to Saint Leo University for Masters of Business Administration. She completed her coursework in strategic thinking and management at Wharton School. Maggie Gill’s professional journey began in 1994 when she joined Tenet Healthcare in South Florida as Chief Financial Officer. She received Tenet Outstanding Chief Financial Officer award for consecutive three years, from 2001 to 2003.
During her ten-year career with Tenet, she worked with three hospitals including Coral Gables Hospital in Florida, North Shore Medical Center in Miami and Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah City, Florida. She is also an Associate Professor at Mercer University. Maggie Gill is associated with different institutes outside her job. She is a member of the Governing Council of American Hospital Association. In 2014, she was appointed to Stabilization Committee for Georgia Rural Health. She is also a member of the Board of Governors, Mercer University. Besides this, she also works on Medicaid expansion as a member of State Medicaid Subcommittee.
In November 2016, Maggie Gill was named one of the “135 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to know” by Becker’s Hospital Review. On 22 November 2016, she was also included in the Becker’s list of “130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to know”.
