Doe Deere Expresses Creativity On Her Own Terms

Doe Deere is the painter, businesswoman, singer and makeup artist behind the cosmetics line Lime Crime. While most magazines come out with a September issue to let consumers know what’s in fashion for the upcoming year, Deere is busy making her own rules and encouraging her customers to be themselves.

One of the fashion rules that Doe makes sure she doesn’t follow is wearing neutral or black clothing with brightly colored hair. Deere often wears her hair in stunning pink and vivid blue shades, but that doesn’t stop her from wearing colorful clothing as well. Doe Deere has also been known to wear socks with open-toe shoes, which is another fashion “faux pas.” She also stated that she hates the fact that her mother looks at clothing and wonders if it’s age-appropriate. Doe states that her mom is a “babe” and should wear clothes that make her feel good, regardless of society’s conventions.

Lime Crime features an array of brightly colored lipsticks and eye shadows, as well as products that add shimmer to any makeup look. Doe wants her products to inspire others to be their best selves, and believes that bold and whimsical hues are just one way to do this. It’s also been said that people shouldn’t wear a bold lip and bold eye at the same time, but Deere doesn’t believe in that either. She feels that people should add as much color to their look as they want, since colors have the ability to be inspirational and uplifting.

Lime Crime was launched in 2008, and was named for Deere’s favorite color, lime green. Doe wanted to create a line of makeup that would immediately stand out, and it was also important to her that the products were cruelty-free. In addition to being a makeup mogul, Doe Deere is also an inspirational speaker who often shares her story and with listener to motivate them to achieve important life goals.

The Story of Yeonmi Park

Learning about different cultures and lifestyles in the world is a good way to see things from a completely different perspective. In the case of author and human rights activist Yeonmi Park, the reality of life in North Korea is one of the many perspectives. Yeonmi Park knows first hand exactly what living in North Korea is like, as she has detailed in her newest autobiography entitled “In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl’s Journey to Freedom.” In the book, she goes into explicit detail about how brutal life can be for many people and the truly oppressive nature of the Kim Jong-Il regime that she and her family lived under for all of those years. Park adds stories about how her family made the daring move to escape and having to overcome multiple obstacles in order for them to gain their freedom, including traffickers who tried to take full advantage of their situation. Starving and poor conditions were also obstacles she included in her tale that ultimately shows what people trying to leave the country would have to go through. Before becoming a renowed activist, Park spent her early life living in the Hyesan district of North Korea. Her mother was a nurse for the North Korean Army and her father worked as a civil servant for the town hall where the Worker’s Party operated at. While her young life showed that it was full of privileges that many could not enjoy, her and her family found themselves in the middle of struggle as the years went on, mainly due to her father being imprisoned after being accused of insider trading. Once she learned on NK news of the true horrors of the North Korean regime, Park and her family made the move to escape the country with her father, first by crossing into China with the help of some human traffickers. The family was then able to smuggle themselves into Mongolia before eventually settling down into South Korea. Park’s father was unable to join them, after having diagnosed with colon cancer and tragically dying before seeing their journey be complete.

QNET Gives Back in a Big Way

QNET had the honor of partnering with the film industry for this event and were able to reinforce their philanthropic philosophy of “Raise Yourself to Help Mankind.” 

This awards function was held primarily to recognize the great film talent of the South Indian Film industry, so QNET was able to get great exposure for all of the philanthropic efforts that they engage in. By being out in the open, they will be able to get good press and that should inspire more people to donate to the cause of the flood relief within the ravaged areas of Chennai. 

QNET did as of this under their “WE CARE” program, which is a CSR initiative of the QNET company within the country of India. This program is dedicated to serving the needs of all of the underprivileged individuals within India. They focus on helping those who are destitute and those who are victims of natural disasters. Recently, QNET was able to partner with the Lion’s Club organization and was able to pass out over 200 basic household relief kits. These kits included sheets, mats, cooking pots, and many other needed items.

Doe Deere Serves Lime Shade At Stuffy Beauty and Fashion Rules

Doe Deere, trend-creating founder of Lime Crime and godmother to unicorns everywhere, cites rules of fashion and beauty just to break them. “Beauty is what feels right at the moment,” Deere explains.

A precursory glance at Deere’s Instagram indicates what feels right to her as the moments go by: Think anime, “The Little Mermaid,” the land of Oz and a touch of carnival filtered through the lens of a consummate color-smith, entrepreneur and artist.

No electric hues are off limits, which is right to the point. Lime Crime, described as “makeup for unicorns,” showcases rich, bright, vibrant and almost theatrical makeup that is entirely cruelty-free.

Ruby slippers and the Emerald City are but child’s play to Deere, who advocates bold eyes paired with bold lips, different prints in the same outfit and socks — preferably colorful — worn with open-toed heels or shoes. Deere believes that a simple eye with bold lips is no fun. “I like to break this rule on the daily,” she confesses.

While Deere advocates wearing multiple colors and clashing prints together, she clarifies the potential pitfalls and offers tips for pulling off the feat properly. The trick is to color-coordinate hair, makeup and outfits. For those just beginning to venture into wearing multiple prints, this rule also applies. Deere keeps her pattern-pairing to a single color scheme, for example.

Experimenting with color and expressing herself through fashion and beauty is nothing new to Deere. Born in Russia and reared in America, Deere was a budding artist as a child. In 2004, she began selling a DIY fashion line on under the handle “LimeCrime.” The unique handle referred to her favorite color and the seeming illegality of having so much fun while working.

Deere modeled all her own clothing and simultaneously experimented with hair and makeup. She soon acquired a following that quickly multiplied. Deere’s confidence grew, and she debuted bolder palettes within her various looks, and the looks quickly became her signature.

Deere’s aesthetic breaks fashion and beauty rules as well. Deere pairs unnatural hair colors with clothes of similar hues. FreedomPop is doing something that no one else in the mobile service arena is doing. The way traditional service providers work is by purchasing a talking minutes, data, and SMS in bulk from large carriers like AT&T, and then reselling those services to customers at a markup to create their profit. FreedomPop on the other hand is purchasing only data from these large service providers, and then using other services to support voice and SMS features.

Voice services can be supplied from a data plan by using a technology call VoIP, which transmits sound digitally through a data connection. SMS messaging can be supported using only a data connection as well through various protocols and applications on users’ smart phones. By purchasing only data from the large service providers, FreedomPop is able to save money on their contracts, and in turn they are able to pass those savings onto their customers. Will this business model work out for them in the end? Only time will tell, but the numbers are looking strong for them right now. As of the time of this writing, FreedomPop has raised a total of 59 million dollars over the past three years, has hundreds of thousands of customers, and show no signs of slowing down. Sprint is certainly taking them seriously. They were in talks with FreedomPop in June 2014 to buy them out for somewhere between $250 million and $450 million.

FreedomPop was originally founded by CEO Steven Sesar and Stephen Stokols in 2011. Before deciding to start FreedomPop, Stephen Stokols worked as the CEO of a video-chat entertainment startup by the name of Woo Media. Using Clearwire’s 4G network, the company began to offer mobile and wireless internet services in the United States, and was successfully able to convert 20% of its free user base to paid subscribers in December 2012.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Implement New Fashion Choices For Fans

The Pittsburgh Steelers recently launched their new fashion line, along with a brand new facebook website, which will allow fans to connect with each other as well as members of the team. The new line will reportedly feature items that are catered toward a variety of styles and personalities. Even big fashion names, including Nike and Victoria’s Secret, will be partnering with the team to create new and exciting fashion options for Steelers fans. Susan McGalla of wikinvest, who is the brain behind the operation, recently joined the team as the director of strategic planning. Prior to joining the Steelers, McGalla served as the president of American Eagle Outfitters and the CEO of Wet Seal. In her new position, she aims to use her experience in retail to create new branding and merchandising practices for the team. McGalla said that she feels sport fashion options should be able to be combined with street fashion, and the clothing choices available to fans should be versatile. She has also started obtaining feedback from the fans who purchase the products by bringing in focus groups to discuss how the team’s fans can be more involved in the organization. McGalla also said that many fans have sent letters asking where they can find the fashion options they see team members wear, and she said the team’s new website has made this request a bit easier. The new website will reportedly feature a “Wear What We Wear” tab for fans to find the clothing worn by players on the sidelines or before the game. Additionally, the team has launched a new campaign, which they are calling “It’s Not Just Friday, It’s Steelers Friday.” As part of the campaign, the team is asking fans to wear black and gold every Friday before game day. Then, fans can send in pictures of themselves wearing these colors in order to be entered for a chance to win a Steelers wardrobe.

DeVos Family Releases Financial Information About Charitable Donations

In Michigan, social clout doesn’t come from material possessions, it comes from how much you donate, and the DeVos family has plenty of social clout along with a newly released report that shows their lifetime donations to be almost $1.2 billion. Their newly released figures put them on Forbes Top 50 givers list with a whopping $94 million for 2014 alone. The magazine tried to get the information for years, and the information was finally released by the family in the hopes that it will encourage others to be generous.

The DeVos family is very upfront in stating that the driving factor that motivates them to donate and to be so generous is their faith. It is a central factor in who they are and everything they do. They also have outlined their model for what their charitable goals are, cultivating leadership, speeding up the process of change, and garnering support in what they consider to be five key areas. The five areas are education, community, arts, justice, and leadership.

Bass is the famous founder of the Dallas hedge fund named Hayman Capital Management, which he initiated in 2006. He is also known well for predicting the 2008 mortgage crisis which came true making him more famous. That was when Bass made his fortune after what he predicted came true.
